Pickity Place in Mason New Hampshire has delicious farm to table food, if you haven't heard of it yet and you're in the new England area this is a must try especially in the spring and summer months. But I went for a recent visit and it was cold, but the warm ambiance is delightful for a day trip getaway.
They have a gift bar, with all kinds of items, from gardening, to nick racks, tea, tea pots, and my favorite home made spices and baking items. But as a cat lover, I was over joyed to see a section just for me!
Pickity Place has a variety of fantastic, cute and humorous cat themed goodies for cat parents and their feline friends.
Including Cat Grass seeds, catnip toys, books, cat kitchen towels, wall art, and more. My camera wouldn't even fit all the items.
Outside my husband and I were greeted by the friendliest cat. His name is Poppy. They say he was a rescue and is one of two cats that now call Pickity Place home. We didn't see Lily the orange female, but Poppy came right over to greet us and gave us lots of love bunts.
Pickity Place says when Poppy arrived "He fit right in, and was walking around greeting guests like he owned the place!" And so he did the day we visited. While in the gift shop he noticed he sat outside and then ran right in when the door was opened. The cats must love this arrangement. Good food, a warm roof over their heads and they're always kept inside at night.
One thing I also love about Pickity Place is that they have a vegetarian option, and todays was a Roasted Root Vegetable in Phyllo cup and Cranberry Stilton!
Last weekend I went to visit Pickity Place again in New Hampshire, and I was so excited to make time to stop at the White Home Collections in Wilson New Hampshire, which is just down the street.
Last summer I visited this great shop, but didn't leave myself enough time to explore everything, as there are three levels inside the store, an outside barn and a front yard, full of vendors items!
White Home Collections "showcases all things fabulous; antique, vintage, and new." Describes their website, and the newer items have a vintage, shabby chic, garden feel that I truly love. Everything from candles, pillows, home decor, art, and clothes, and garden things.
When I visited before, I met Dexter the shop cat, a male, tuxedo cat with a sweet disposition. This time around I made sure to look for him, and I know I wasn't the only one, as I heard some other people mentioning they wanted to find him to say hello as well. After a little while, shopping the main level and the second floor I still couldn't spot him snuggled anywhere in a warm nookie spot, so I asked the cashier and they said that Dexter was no longer living at the shop. They said he was lonely in the store by himself and they found him a forever home. I was a bit disappointed, but I am so happy for him!
Well, if I couldn't find Dexter, I was going to shop for my next favorite things, cat art, and collectibles. Things that any cat lover would find attractive and definitely add to their feline collection.
First, I have to mention that my husband Dustin found me an amazing Type 2 hat, (Check out Carol Tuttle Dressing Your Truth to Find Your Type) and it was soft, warm, and just the right color, so we grabbed that. Do you think its 20's style or 40"s?
I also found a felted cat Christmas tree ornament, to add to my cat and dog Christmas tree that I do every year. Aren't these the cutest!
Then I found a variety of antique cat items, like decorations and trinkets, scattered in different spots.
Whats funny is, I have something that looks just like these in storage.
I also found pictures and a cute cup with a cat drinking what looks like milk, very humorous.
Since it is so close to Christmas, we saw lots of decorations and great gift ideas through out all the vendors booths. Here we have a framed art and a very original piece with a cat and the letters CAT. I like the warm fireplace behind the kitty.
Of Course Christmas wouldn't be complete without a Christmas Stocking for Kitty. This one seems a little small for a real cat parent would have lots of cat toys and treats that might now even fit in this little stocking, but it had an adorable design I thought.
My exploration would not be complete without purroosing for cat books. I can not have enough cat books. When everyone else decides to get rid of books, I will have a full library in my house with a complete cat book collection THANK YOU!
Blended with cat items is often dog items as well, here were a few items I thought were very beautiful products.
I hope you get a chance to visit someday. Here is their link
One of my favorite things is to shop around town, small boutiques and fun places like HomeGoods for feline related trinkets and toys. I love finding cool supplies that will work great in my home and I love finding holiday items that are cat related or are the color orange.
Here are some of the things that caught my eye this week, at HomeGoods.
I thought this was very cute. It looks like Purr View Cat and I love her orange mask. She is wearing a lot of type4 colors and patterns but she has a very cute expression on her face and I like that she docent look like an evil cat. She just looks like she is having a fun time at a Halloween Party this year.
This great wall hanging caught my eye because I am always telling the kitty's when they're fighting, "We need to love one another. If we don't take care of each other who else will" It's as if the Lord was saying that back to me. Kind of reassuring- I just think it needs two silhouettes of cats. One in the bottom left corner and the other one bottom right. LOL
Have you seen any Feline Finds that grabbed your attention?

Even though today in Massachusetts is sweltering hot, the weather is getting colder and that means we will will all be starting to bundle up to the fall weather and I for one, CAN'T wait.
Last night when I was heading to bed in my new camper, I noticed a small cat outside the door meowing at me. I tried to step outside to talk to the cat but it ran away. This made me think about all the felines that are living as community cats, and those that find themselves strays after the summer season around the beach area ends.
It wasn't a coincidence that Mary Nelson wrote and asked if I would be interested in sharing an info graphic she created to help gain attention to the benefits of adopting a cat.
Click on the graphic and you can read her entire article. This is something you can share on Facebook or email to a friend who is thinking about adopting a cat. You know someone! I am sure of it that would help them decide to look into it and maybe even reach out to a local shelter.
Please spread the word about wonderful reasons to adopt a pet!
Have you ever wanted to find a way to save on the cost of cat litter? some cat litters are very expensive and can still have odors, fragrances, and other issues.
I have many clients who are beginning to use Equine Pine Bedding pellets for their cats litter box material. It smells nice and is basically very easy to clean.
Its easy to scoop and easy to clean the box as well.
Here is a video of a guy that designed his very own litter box with a sifter system. I love it and want to try it too. Today I bought a large and heavy bag of pine bedding for $5.99 and as long as the cats will use this material I will see how it goes.
The example in the video allows for a small gap between the two boxes where, when he sifts the litter thats turned to powder, it just goes down underneath.
I might suggest adding a pee pee pad liner underneath to catch the powdered litter or even a cat liner -then you could just wrap it up and put it in the trash. If you have the ability to use it in a ornamental garden or compost for non-food gardens, then you would be able to compost the wood powder and that would be amazing because you wouldn't even be putting it in the trash.
Have you ever tried this type of litter? please share your feedback in the comments below.
If Cats hide their illnesses very well, how can you be sure they are healthy?
I'm in the same boat, I have a lot of cats to take care of and I try my best to stay on top of their needs, but sometimes my own illnesses have gotten in the way of staying current with my cats. In addition, it can be emotional taking them to the vet, and even though I know some cats really get sick and throw up on that drive to the vet, most do pretty well. So its no excuse for me.
If you don't really like taking your cat to the vet you could always consider giving an in-home vet a call. There are many veterinarians that will go to the home you just have to call around or google them in your area.
Also, if you would like to have a feline friendly practice where they will understand you and your cats needs then choosing a cat clinic may be the best place.
When you go to the vet, make sure to cover your cats carrier and to keep it off the floor and away from dogs. I always put the carrier facing me on my lap.
Check out this cool video on some examples of why taking your cat to the vet is well worth it.
If you're a Purr View Community Member let us know in the comments, what your cat's health is like right now. Do you think they need to go to the vet at least once a year?
